Popcorn Poppers, Pink Diamonds and Sleek Cars

Now that the holiday week end has passed... Red Baron has received probably the best equipped, original Cretors Popcorn Wagon there ever was. This one, while needing a good cleaning, has a rare double popper, a peanut roaster, an ice chest, an original red-hot grill, good wheels and rubber. It’s a great collectible! Along with the wagon, we picked up a fully operational, fully restored Allan Herschell merry-go-round.  Awesome!  We also just received some new fountains and park benches, just in time for the summer.

They are finishing up filming here at Red Baron for Paul’s show, Auction Kings on the Discovery channel.  The new season opens the first week in August.

And I almost forgot we also just received a large lot of estate jewelry, including a pink diamond ring as well as a sweet Jaguar XKE Roadster in black.

We have lots going on, so come see us!

BMW's, A Secret Initiation Chair, and The Rising Market

Here are a few more new additions… We have just received a rare late 1960’s BMW, 2-seater convertible, which qualifies for vintage racing or just cruising on a Sunday.  We’ve got a fabulous 6 door golden oak ice-box ready to go in the pantry.  There is a secret society, very rare, initiation chair that shoots a 32 cal. blank when the mechanism is tripped, Circa1903.  You can imagine-it gives an extreme scare!

On another note...I have noticed that the crowds at local antique fairs are growing all over the country.  The change in weather, too, is bringing out everyone from a long winter.  The people are buying.  Dealers are all reporting good sales in most areas.  Industrial items are staying hot in the cities with their popularity in lofts and warehouses.  However, fine decorator items and unusual things lead the list.  Paintings following next...

Local and regional auctions are also reporting good sales on the same items, but are also seeing occasional big spikes on rare pieces.

A Chinese vase sold for 100 times the estimate in Buffalo, New York, after tremendous world interest, achieving over 1 million dollars.  There was also a report in New York of a rare, collectible astronaut suit selling for over $25,000.  Tiffany windows and lamps are also on the rise again. Recently auction houses have recorded sales of Tiffany windows selling in NY for over a million, and the more common lamps (acorns, etc) changing hands in the mid-teens. It looks as though antiques and collectibles are finally on the rise again. Invest in the past.

Container En Route!

We have a container on the way..... on it, there is a very rare matched pair of stalactites-- awesome and almost never on the market.  These are mounted on short wooden stands and are about 6 feet tall, with gorgeous color. From the same estate collection, there is a whale skull fossil, a Seeburg band box--it's in working condition, but has had a little restoration.  Also, and a 5 foot erectorset display model of train--really nice. Also arriving is the best pair of drafting tables we have ever seen, and a very rare model drafting table. We have, perhaps, the best cast and wrought iron set of wine cellar doors on the market, plus much more.
Stay tuned for more information about new arrivals, and more information about what's coming in on our latest container....
